Maritime Centre launches dream

A new workshop space, community meeting room, a retail "boatique," public washrooms and, of course, a museum will highlight the new and improved maritime centre in Cowichan Bay once complete.

Ground was officially broken March 15, as hoards of interested community members gathered in the pouring rain.

Dave Knott, the newly minted president of the Cowichan Bay Wooden Boat Society, said the $750,000 project wouldn't have happened if not for a dream - and a lot of fundraising.
